The project we started working on in June 2022 was intended to send a class of 13 students (with 2 teachers) specialised in topography (terminale bac pro) from the Atlantique vocational high school in Royan to Bac Ha , Lao Cai province, Northern Vietnam.

Students were expected to practise and demonstrate their technical and professional skills.
The project was built in partnership with the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Europe and our school.

It became a reality when we left Royan to take the plane at Charles De Gaulle airport to Hanoi on March 9.
The students’mission consisted in carrying out topographic and photogrammetric measurements and studies of the Hoang A Tuong palace

, located in Bac Ha, about 6 hours from Hanoi, in the North of Vietnam , in order to make a 3D modelling, in agreement with the Lao Cai tourist office.

We organized our work week in 2 groups.
In the morning, one group was in charge of taking measures and was working at the Palace

. They were asked to complete a travel diary, prepare , record and film interviews of local people we met during our stay
(https://youtu.be/AGyxee8tN1w) and train for their oral exam (CCF in May).
The 2 groups swapped in the afternoon.

Our busy and quite intensive week was rewarded with 2 more relaxing days dedicated to tourism and visits .We went to Sapa and took an amazing cable car ride to Fansipan

, the highest point in South East Asia.
On the last day, we had a wonderful 12 kilometer-trekking among the rice paddies where we met some people from surrounding tribes and ethnicities

Both students and teachers shared a fabulous experience and we went home, on March 21, with unforgettable memories.
