This year, Les Grippeaux High School sent four students to Malta : two electricians (1 MELEC) and two sales students (1 MCV).

We were helped by an intermediary organization called Breakaway, which helped us find host families and suitable companies.

We had two video meetings with them. The students introduced themselves and talked about their professional experience in order to find the best companies. The teachers also worked with them on the objectives of the work placement and the evaluation system.

The two teachers who left with the students at the beginning also prepared them beforehand by providing the necessary linguistic knowledge related to their jobs (for the sales students, this was done during the European sales class), as well as the information needed for everyday life in Malta. Moreover, we talked about the mobility exam and the necessity to have cultural visits to understand the history of the country.

The benefits of such an experience include comparing different ways of life and working practices in their professions, becoming more autonomous by travelling by bus and plane, and speaking English all the time.

They also become aware that they will be able to work anywhere in Europe and manage on their own without their parents.
