From March 7th to 21st, seven second-year vocational students (NVQ) from EREA Françoise Dolto in Saint-Aubin-le-Cloud (Deux-Sèvres) had the opportunity to take part in a professional mobility program in Portugal, in the Algarve region, through the Erasmus+ programme.
Kylian and Lucas, students in NVQ PSR (Food Production and Restaurant Service) ; Sloan and Mathis, students in NVQ MMEV (Maintenance of Green Space Equipment) ; Céline and Margot, students in NVQ AAGA (Support Worker for the Elderly) ; and Nathan, a student in NVQ MDAH (Agriculture, Horticulture section), discovered the city of Albufeira, in the Algarve, Portugal.
They completed qualifying professional internships in Portuguese companies.
The PSR students worked in service and in the kitchen at Castello di Norcia, an Italian restaurant.
The MMEV students worked at BricoVerde, a company specialized in the maintenance and repair of lawnmowers and garden robots.
The AAGA students worked at Santa Casa da Misericórdia, a public organization specialized in elderly care and Nathan worked with the technical services of the Albufeira City Hall, responsible for maintaining green spaces.
The objectives were numerous :
- to develop autonomy and maturity, to acquire and strengthen professional skills
- to broaden cultural horizons
- to take part in an environmental initiative
- to practice foreign languages.
Through this experience, the students also took part in a beach clean-up operation, explored the city through a treasure hunt, discovered Portuguese gastronomy, and, above all, met warm and welcoming people while being introduced to the Portuguese language.
It was an enriching experience from a professional, cultural, and human perspective.
This is why the initiative will continue next year.
EREA F. Dolto also plans to expand its network in order to offer students more international mobility opportunities starting next year, particularly with a new partner : Belgium.
