The English teachers introduced their students to this small English-speaking country’s culture – its rich history, breathtaking landscapes and friendly people.
The week was punctuated by numerous activities.

At 10 a.m., every morning, we were all bewitched by a musical moment :

  • On Monday the 16th, the festivities were kicked off with the singing of "Ireland’s Call".
  • On Tuesday the 17th, a teacher performed an operatic song « Danny Boy ».
  • On Wednesday the 18th, the high school’s choir enchanted the audience with « Zombie ».
  • On Thursday the 19th, a group of students read their poem joined by a teacher playing the Irish whistle.
  • On Friday the 20th,the high school’s choir sang « Sunday Bloody Sunday », and the week ended at 4 p.m. with a mini concert (both lyrical and rock).

The week’s dress code was of course « wearing green ». Many were enthusiastic to do so…
Two Irish meals were prepared and served in the canteen.

Irish music resonated throughout the week thanks to the daily bell music offered to students and staff.

WE ALL HAD A GOOD CRAIC !

LANGUAGE WEEK = A MUSICAL JOURNEY

The second linguistic event focused on all the languages taught in the high school.

Each team proposed an activity for the morning break, a colour code, a song for the day’s bell and a meal… As such, the canteen was decorated with flags from all corners of the globe.

The high school’s librarians displayed on round tables literature from different countries.

- The week’s program :

  • Monday Spanish Day : the Spanish teachers launched into a rousing "Macarena" .
  • Tuesday English Day  : the high school’s choir sang « Waterloo » .
  • Wednesday Chinese Day : the Chinese teacher and her students sang the traditional « Peng You  » (meaning "friends" in Chinese)
  • Thursday German Day  : two teachers played "Schumann’s Reverie" on piano and clarinet. It was just wonderful !
  • Friday Latin Day : a teacher started singing the students’ anthem in Latin. She closed the week at 4 p.m. with the song « Nella Fantasia » in Italian.

The two weeks of language activities were enjoyed by the entire high school (both students and staff) and will be followed by other language sessions next year !
