Opening up to the world: our students go international. publié le 11/06/2025
A year full of experiences.
At Lycée des Métiers Le Verger in Châtellerault, international experience is more than a concept — it has become a reality for our students. Several of them have had the chance to broaden their horizons through unique international opportunities that blend learning, cultural discovery, and professional growth.
1- Work Experience in Spain
As part of their vocational training, last April, three girls studying commerce in the second year of their vocational high school diploma traveled to Spain for a three-week internship in a local company thanks to the Erasmus+ accreditation. This immersive experience allowed them to apply their technical skills in a professional setting while improving their Spanish and discovering a new work culture. For many, it was their first time abroad — a memorable and empowering journey. Last May, two boys in their final year of vocational high school diploma in industrial maintenance also traveled to Spain for a two-week internship in Cordoba.

2- Cultural Exchange in Germany
Another group, during their vocational training in electricity, commerce and industrial maintenance, will go on an educational trip to Germany in June.
First, they will discover a World War II memorial site:the Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp. Then, they will visit the Alsace-Moselle Memorial located in the town of Schirmeck.
Afterwards, they will head to Germany, specifically to Freiburg. When teachers prepared the journey a few months ago, this city caught their attention because of its innovative infrastructure in green electricity production. Its ecological approach to urban management seemed extremely interesting for students of all backgrounds. The program includes a visit to the Vauban eco-district, the Heliotrope house, and the Europa Park stadium which is entirely powered by solar panels, as well as a tour of the old town.
3- Welcoming Cypriot Students
In June, we will have the pleasure of welcoming a delegation of ten students from Cyprus, studying architecture and design. They will spend several days in our school, attending an artistic workshop, where they will express themselves creatively through collaborative art, discovering our vocational programs, and sharing their own experiences. Our students will act as ambassadors, practicing their English and taking pride in presenting their school and region.
As part of their stay, our Cypriot guests will also have the opportunity to visit the city of Châtellerault, exploring its cultural heritage and architecture, and local attractions. Several visits will be organized, including tours of our vocational training workshops, technical facilities, and local business partners. The visit to the Futuroscope theme park will be an exciting way to experience science, technology, and innovation through fun and interactive exhibits.
To strengthen intercultural bonds, the students will participate in a variety of engaging workshops. In our vocational school radio studio, they will record a podcast together — a fun way to reflect on their experience while developing communication and media skills. They will take part in sporting events to create bonds. As a final gesture of friendship, our students are preparing a handmade gift for their Cypriot guests — a meaningful souvenir of this unforgettable exchange.
These international projects are a key part of our educational vision:helping students grow into open-minded, adaptable, and confident young adults. We are proud of their curiosity, courage, and enthusiasm — and we’re already preparing for the next trips !
