From Surgères to Cyprus: Building skills across borders publié le 10/04/2025
Par Madame Garbaczinski, enseignante Anglais-lettres au lycée du pays d'Aunis à Surgères.
In 2023, the Lycée du Pays d’Aunis in Surgères established a valuable Erasmus+ partnership with the Paphos Technical School in Cyprus, offering key opportunities for students specializing in carpentry and cabinet-making.
As part of their final vocational training for the professional baccalaureate, a second group of four students completed a four-week internship in March / April 2025.

This experience abroad enabled them to refine their technical skills and gain international work exposure ahead of graduation.

Mrs. Garbaczinski (English teacher) and Mr. Marzin (carpentry teacher), who accompanied the students on their return trip, seized the opportunity while in Cyprus to secure a new partnership with a second woodworking company in Limassol for future internships.
Next year, in return, two Cypriot students will be hosted by a French company and will benefit from the European program in the same way.
This growing Erasmus+ collaboration not only enhances students’ career prospects but also strengthens our institution’s reputation in vocational training.
