Destination : Lisbon and Sintra, Portugal
Participants : 12 first and second-year BTS CCST students and 2 accompanying teachers
Trip Objectives :
• Improving English language communication skills
• Exploring Portuguese culture and history
• Focusing on the construction materials industry
• Fostering the group spirit and class cohesion
- Day 1 : Arrival in Lisbon
Upon arrival in Lisbon, we settled into our accommodation at a youth hostel located in the vibrant Bairro Alto district, known for its cultural richness and lively atmosphere.
- Day 2 : Guided Tour of Lisbon and a Tile Factory Visit
We started with a guided tour of Lisbon historic center, exploring landmarks like Praça do Comércio, São Jorge Castle, and the Sé Cathedral. In the afternoon, we visited a local tile factory in Lamego to understand the production process and its significance in the construction materials industry.
- Day 3 : Excursion to Belém and visit of the Azulejo Museum
Our day trip included visits to Belém’s attractions such as the Belém Tower, Jerónimos Monastery, and the National Coach Museum. We also explored the National Azulejo Museum to deepen our understanding of Portuguese tile art.
- Day 4 : Sintra and Cabo da Roca
We travelled to Sintra, where highlights included Pena Palace and the Moorish Castle. Later, we visited Cabo da Roca, Europe’s westernmost point, enjoying panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Day 5 : Further Exploration of Lisbon
We spent the day exploring additional cultural landmarks in Lisbon, including the Lisbon Oceanarium and leisurely walks through Bairro Alto’s charming streets.
- Day 6 : Tile Factory Visit
Another visit to a tile factory provided further insights into tile production processes and their applications in the construction industry.
- Day 7 : time of departure
Our last day involved souvenir shopping and a final stroll through the bustling streets of Bairro Alto before departing for our return flight to Bordeaux.
As a conclusion :
The school trip to Portugal was a rewarding experience for BTS CCST students, allowing them to improve their English communication skills, explore Portuguese culture, and gain insights into the construction materials industry through visits to tile factories like the one in Lamego. The trip fostered the group cohesion and provided memorable educational experiences.
